
Dr. Cheryl Logan

Dr. Cheryl Logan, is currently the K-12 Market Leader for Jacobs, living out her dream to join the corporate sector as an executive. Jacobs Engineering is a multi-national firm that builds everything from bridges to schools and everything in between. From July 2023 to September 2024, Dr. Logan served as the Inaugural Director of the Center for Educational Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania, Graduate School of Education. Until June 2023, Logan served as the superintendent of the Omaha Public Schools, a system serving 53,000 students for five years (July 2018- June 2023). The Omaha Public Schools, the largest school district in Nebraska, has a diverse student population: 38% Hispanic/Latino, 25% Caucasian, 27% Black and 7% Asian and 75% students qualifying for free/reduced meals. In 2022, she was awarded the McGraw Prize in Education for her distinguished work during the pandemic, recognized for reopening schools in the fall of 2020 in collaboration with health partners from the University of Nebraska Global Pandemic Center.
Logan has spent her career in education working in school districts with large immigrant populations from around the world, including with students from significant English language learner populations. She has previously served in the following roles:
- Chief Academic Officer – School District of Philadelphia
- Assistant Superintendent – School District of Philadelphia
- Elementary Principal – Prince George’s and Howard County Public Schools, Maryland
- High School Principal – Prince George’s Public Schools
- Foreign Language and ESL Instructor – Prince George’s Public Schools, Maryland
She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland, a Master of Education Degree from John Hopkins University and a Doctor of Education Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to other forms of diversity among the communities in which she has served, Dr. Logan believes a superintendent must collaborate with students, teachers, parents, the Board of Education, the broader community and business and faith partners in service of children and families. Dr. Logan is also fluent in Spanish. Logan is the mother of an adult daughter. She resides in Greenville, DE with her husband and two dogs.
