Swati Adarkar served in the Biden-Harris Administration as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Early Learning. She led the agency’s early learning initiatives including the Kindergarten Sturdy Bridge. She previously served as the National Policy Director for Start Early and Co-Founder, President & CEO of the Children’s Institute in Oregon for 15 years. Swati served on statewide advisory committees for three Oregon governors and led the development of the nationally recognized Early Works Initiative. For more than thirty years she has been a strong advocate for ensuring the health, development, and early school success of young children. Swati earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from UCLA and her Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School.
